Discover Your PACs

The ability to analyze where there are Potentially Avoidable Complications (PACs) in a claims database has proven a real conceptual breakthrough, not just to model ECRs, but also to focus provider attention on specific areas where process change can be directed. The PROMETHEUS Payment® design creates financial incentives to avoid these PACs, but identifying PACs in a specific claims database can be used by plans and providers alike to focus attention to prioritize quality improvement.

We can now make available the ECR® Analytics that identify PACs for the conditions we have targeted. For a payor -- whether a health plan, an employer coalition or a self-funded employer health benefits program – to get access to the Analytics, they must sign a license agreement, which acknowledges our intellectual property, and also lets us learn from the data generated to further our work, while protecting the confidentiality of the payor’s data. In addition, those seeking to utilize these Analytics, will pay a fee, depending on the size of applicable database, to help defray our expenses in continuing the work of expanding the design and implementation of the PROMETHEUS Payment® model.
